One of the biggest struggles when it comes to living a healthier lifestyle is EASILY diet. And this struggle makes complete sense with how society is today.

We focus completely on the palatability of food and the convenience of attaining food, thus, allowing the popularity of fast food restaurants and pre-made, processed foods to grow. I recently read a study stating that the rate of obesity worldwide has TRIPLED since 1975 and 1 in 5 Americans are considered morbidly obese.

What.

The scary part is that it makes complete sense. We want food that tastes good, we want it to be cheap, and we want it NOW. Our lives are busy and stressful and we have other things to worry about instead of cooking healthy foods. Right?

Not even the knowledge that we are dying from being overweight will make us stop eating junk. While doctors tell us we need to lose weight to help with Problem XYZ, they will also say that while writing a prescription out for a pill to “cure” this problem.

And taking a pill is a helluva lot easier than completely changing a diet.

"And taking a pill is a helluva lot easier than completely changing a diet."

Now, by no means am I hating on doctors or think that prescription medication is bad. And I’m also not saying that eating healthy is simple. IT’S NOT. It’s expensive, time consuming, and difficult to maintain.

The main question is, do we want to actually LIVE and enjoy our lives, or do we want to suffer through it while paying off medical bills?

I could easily go on and on explaining why there’s an increase in obesity and possible ways to counter it, but today’s post is actually to share my current favorite meal right now: Protein Pumpkin Bread.

Oh no... I’m one of those annoying food bloggers now that writes paragraphs instead of just showing the recipe...soo sorry.

Protein Pumpkin Bread

Ingredients:

1 Egg

¼ cup All Purpose Flour

150g Pumpkin Puree

1 scoop Protein Powder (I use Bowmar Nutrition Pumpkin Spice )

¼ cup Brown Sugar (I use calorie-free Swerve)

1 Tbsp Baking Powder

1 Tsp Pumpkin Spice

1 Tsp Cinnamon

Directions:

Heat oven to 375 degrees F

Spray bread pan

Mix ingredients together

Bake for 35 minutes (may be 33-35 minutes depending on oven)

And that's it! I like to top mine with Walden Farms pancake syrup. Blueberries can also be added!

What’s also great about this, is that it can be modified depending on your nutrition plan. For example; if my carbs are low for that day, I will use 1 Tbsp of Coconut Flour instead of the All Purpose Flour, and I will also lower my Pumpkin Puree to 100 grams. This is just one of many recipes that can be tailored depending on individual needs and why I absolutely love it. Not to mention, it tastes amazing and curbs any “baked good” craving I may have.

Oh, and did I mention I eat the entire loaf in one sitting?

So raise your forks, ladies and gents, and take a bite!

Here’s to Health. Cheers.
