The Here’s to Health community has expanded to a second IG account that I’ve dubbed The Pickled Spoon (@the_pickledspoon on IG). With this account, I’ve been displaying my recipes, my daily meals, but more importantly, where I eat out.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I enjoy my food, but being able to try new food and share it with you is even better.
Not only that, I get to highlight locally owned restaurants. We all know that small businesses have been negatively hit by the pandemic so my hope is sharing my experiences helps them even just a little.
Now, for the fun part!

Today, I am highlighting the gorgeous restaurant, Pasha Cafe & Lounge!
This Mediterranean restaurant is located right off the main street in the Shadyside area of Pittsburgh, PA.

At first glance, it’s easy to see how brightly decorated and welcoming it is. With a combination of indoor and outdoor seating, visitors have a choice of where’d they like to enjoy their meal. There’s a quiet, open atmosphere around it that allows you to escape the “steel city” hustle for a while.
THE NOMS
Starting off, I was unable to decide what appetizer I wanted... the everyday struggle of being a foodie. But Pasha had a solution: the Small Mixed Appetizer.

With five appetizers in one, I was able to try a variety of things including their hummus, sauced eggplant, piyaz, tabuli, and my absolute favorite, baba ganoush.
While their most popular dish is the Chicken Kebab, I dared to be different and tried their Lamb Adana dish. Combined with a side of rice, grilled vegetables, and a side of their Shepard salad, this meal was not only delicious, but nutritious.
I was also able to try their falafel with pan-fried zucchini, and ohmygoodness was it good. It was actually some of the best falafel I’ve ever had.

The most exciting part of it all, was that I tried baklava for the first time! I know, where have I been, right? But it was well worth the wait...this flaky pastry with pistachio filling was the perfect ending to a perfect lunch.
THE SERVICE
Incredible food, yes, but even more incredible service. Having been a server on and off for the past ten years, I can confidently say that the hospitality here was incredible. From a warm welcome to extreme attentiveness, the workers at Pasha were wonderful.
COVID Precautions
In light of the pandemic, I think it’s very important to highlight the prevention procedures this restaurant had in place.

All workers were wearing masks and gloves at all times. Bottles of water were offered and hand sanitation and alcohol wipes were offered at every table. Guests were seated far apart and we were provided previously sanitized menus.
Final Thoughts
If you’d like to come here to "work from home" (they have wifi) or join them for happy hour (did I mention they are BYOB with a mexican restaurant next door? HELLO takeout margs!), Pasha has you covered.
To take a look at their full menu and/or order some takeout, visit their website at http://pashacafelounge.mobile-webview.com/index.php or follow them on Instagram @pasha_cafe_lounge.
So raise your spirits, ladies and gents, and enjoy a wonderful experience at Pasha Cafe & Lounge.
